Efficiency in the workplace (less is more)September 11, 2016
I was reading an article by Ed Callahan from the EOS Worldwide blog about achieving greater business growth through less activity. In the article Ed quotes another blog post by a man named Seth Godin who in 2015 compared our efforts to spreading not enough butter thin over too much bread. In spreading ourselves thin over too many projects or too many tasks, we lead ourselves to becoming overwhelmed and blaming our lack of resources, time, money, people, and so on.
The solution to spreading ourselves too thin is to focus focus focus on major tasks and plans for the year. Getting just a couple major objectives complete for the company can be bigger and more fulfilling than trying and failing to complete many.
If you chase all of them, you will catch none of them. So sit down with your team, figure out a few main objectives you want to focus on, and make a plan on how to achieve them. The last step is to help each other. If we are all helping our coworkers succeed, then we can all succeed.
